Palestinians refugees across Lebanon are demanding to live in dignity!

We stand with striking Palestinians as well as Syrians and migrant workers in Lebanon against the restrictive and discriminatory new labor law. This law restricts legal work to those who hold a work visa and was accompanied by a scapegoating campaign against Palestinians and Syrians in the country and raids on their places of work and several shutdowns. This has led to an ongoing uprising and strike in the Palestinian camps demanding a repeal of the law and the resolving of their legal status. Syrian refugees have largely avoided rising due to the continuous threat of deportation to Syria. The Lebanese political class continues to scapegoat and threaten both groups.

Our protest in Michigan comes in response to and affirmation of calls by rising Palestinians in Lebanon to hold protests and shows of solidarity across Europe and North America in support of their demands.

The MOVE ORGANIZATION would like to update people on what is going on right now as it relates to Delbert Africa. We received word from an anonymous source that Delbert is in fact urinating blood, his bladder is impacted and compromised and colon is starting to show wear and tear from the pressure/over worked kidneys. Fluid is still being drained but not rapidly enough. He is awake, conscious, and talking but weak.

A week ago MOVE political prisoner Delbert Orr Africa was taken out of SCI Dallas and transported to an outside hospital where he has since been held incommunicado. Delbert has not been allowed to call his MOVE Family or blood daughter.  Prison and Hospital officials will not release any information to any of us on Delbert or his condition.

When Delbert was taken from SCI Dallas he had swelling from a fluid buildup.  We are now hearing from two different sources that Delbert has no more than 72 hours before he dies.  Delbert’s daughter, MOVE family members and even his lawyers are being denied access for communication, visitation, contact, and access to documents from prison and hospital officials.

Delbert is scheduled to go before the PA Parole Board this September.  MOVE members believe that the government wants to kill Delbert before he can be paroled, and there is evidence that clearly shows this.  This government does not want to give ground and parole another innocent MOVE Member, that’s why they are working in conjunction with Prison and hospital officials to murder Delbert.

It would be a feather in the cap for officials to see Delbert DIE. What’s more of a slap in the face is that they are trying to kill him to celebrate on August 8, 1978 –  41 years to the day that Delbert and other MOVE people were kidnapped by this government being innocent and railroaded to prison .

We are highly suspicious of what’s going on here. In 2015 our MOVE 9 Brother Phil Africa was taken to an outside hospital from SCI Dallas with a minor stomach virus. He was held incommunicado for a period of 5 days and upon returning to SCI Dallas he was placed in hospice care only to die a day later.

In March of 1998 after recovering from a stomach virus at SCI Cambridge Springs, MOVE 9 Sister Merle Africa was told by prison officials she was dying only to die a couple of hours later.

The same pattern is repeating itself here.

On Aug. 8, 1978 Delbert was arrested during the Philadelphia police assault on the MOVE house in Powelton Village. Police officer James Ramp died during the 1978 police assault, likely struck by one of the tens of thousands of rounds fired by his fellow officers that day.  He was brutally beaten and assaulted by police following this attack.

Nine MOVE members were all found guilty of firing the same bullet and were convicted of murder, assault and conspiracy by the late Judge Edwin S. Malmed. The MOVE 9 were subsequently sentenced to 30 to 100 years in prison.” (onamove.com) Despite serving over 40 years of a 30-to-100-year sentence, Delbert Africa remains unjustly imprisoned.

AFRICANS ON THE MOVE TO CELEBRATE 30^TH ANNUAL GARVEYFEST IN MILWAUKEE AUGUST 16-17, 2019

All are invited to come and participate in the 30^th GarveyFest Celebration here in Milwaukee sponsored by Africans on the Move (AOM).  This year’s GarveyFest theme is “Celebrating Thirty Years of GarveyFest:  We Couldn’t Have Done It without You!”  AOM is very thankful that GarveyFest will be held at the historic Wisconsin African-American Women’s Center (WAAWC), 3020 W. Vliet Street.

This year’s theme, “Celebrating Thirty Years of GarveyFest:  We Couldn’t Have Done It without You!” celebrates those who have consistently supported GarveyFest for many years, including organizations and institutions such as Running Rebels, Urban Underground, N’COBRA, The Milwaukee Times, Black Health Coalition of Wisconsin, the Wisconsin African-American Women’s Center, the Nation of Islam and many more.

It is a two-day celebration.  On Friday, August 16, 2019, the Pan-African Social will be held from 6-9 p.m. inside the Wisconsin African-American Women’s Center.  The Pan-African Social is a family party/gala with conscious music, dancing, conscious Karaoke and Hors D’Oeuvres.  Let’s dress in African attire, if we can.  Children, Teens, Adults—all are welcome.

We hold in our hearts the memory of anti-racist activist Heather Heyer and the dozens injured by the fascists in Charlottesville. While it was a Nazi thug who murdered Heather, it is the bigot-in-chief Donald Trump, endorser of the “very fine” Nazi and Klan scum, who has enshrined their genocidal ideology as his national policy against the disabled, the LGBTQ+ community, and all People of Color.

Migrants at our southern border, who are “engaged in a federally protected activity” of seeking asylum, are having their babies ripped from their parents arms, their children kidnapped and placed in cages, women forced to drink out of toilets. Cages are so crowded that no one can even lie on the floor. Food, soap, even toothbrushes are denied them, all on the orders from Trump because of their “race” and “national origin.” This meets the very definition of a federal hate crime multiplied thousands of times.

Trump is showing off his brutality “stripes” to his rich friends on Wall Street, to show them how tough he’ll be to those who oppose their cutbacks, like the dismantling of Obamacare. We’re supposed to fight over the scraps that they grant us. That’s why they’ve poured more than $100 million into Trump’s re-election campaign. We demand that Congress immediately impeach Trump for hate crimes and dump his whole gang of rich bigots!

MORTON, Miss. — U.S. immigration officials raided seven Mississippi chicken processing plants Wednesday, arresting 680 mostly Latino workers in the largest workplace sting in at least a decade.

The raids, planned months ago, happened just hours before President Donald Trump was scheduled to visit El Paso, Texas, the majority-Latino border city where a man linked to an online screed about a “Hispanic invasion” was charged in a shooting that left 22 people dead.

About 600 U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents fanned out across the plants operated by five companies, surrounding the perimeters to prevent workers from fleeing.

In Morton, about 40 miles (65 kilometers) east of the capital of Jackson, workers filled three buses – two for men and one for women – at a Koch Foods Inc. plant.

Those arrested were taken to a military hangar to be processed for immigration violations. About 70 family, friends and residents waved goodbye and shouted, “Let them go! Let them go!” Later, two more buses arrived.

A tearful 13-year-old boy whose parents are from Guatemala waved goodbye to his mother, a Koch worker, as he stood beside his father. Some employees tried to flee on foot but were captured in the parking lot.

Workers, including Domingo Candelaria, who could show they were in the country legally were allowed to leave the plant after agents searched the trunks of their vehicles.

“It was a sad situation inside,” Candelaria said.

Mississippi is the nation’s fifth-largest chicken producing state and the plants’ tough processing jobs have mainly been filled by Latino immigrants eager to take whatever work they can get. Chicken plants dominate the economies of Morton and other small towns east of Jackson.

Based in Park Ridge, Illinois, Koch is one of the largest poultry producers in the U.S, with operations in Mississippi and five other states. The company didn’t respond to telephone calls and emails seeking comment.

Matthew Albence, ICE’s acting director, told The Associated Press in an interview Wednesday in Pearl, just down the road from the Koch plant, that the raids could be the largest-ever workplace operation in any single state. Asked about their coinciding with Trump’s visit to El Paso, Albence responded, “This is a long-term operation that’s been going on.” He said raids are “racially neutral” and based on evidence of illegal residency.

The companies involved could be charged with knowingly hiring workers who are in the county illegally and will be scrutinized for tax, document and wage fraud, Albence said.

Bill Chandler, executive director of the Mississippi Immigrant Rights Alliance, called the “terrible” raids “another effort to drive Latinos out of Mississippi,” and he blamed Trump for fanning racism with his past incendiary comments about immigrants.

“This is the same thing that Trump is doing at the border with the Border Patrol,” he said, referring to the increased crackdown on migrants coming into the U.S….

Cyntoia Brown was released from prison early Wednesday morning after being granted clemency by then-Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam in January, according to the Tennessee Department of Corrections.

Initially sentenced to life in prison for killing a man who bought her for sex when she was 16, Brown was released to parole supervision after spending more than a decade jailed.

Police killed 1,165 people in 2018.

There were only 22 days in all of last year where police didn’t kill someone. Despite all the protests, marches, training seminars, thoughts and prayers, in 2018, cops killed 36 more people than they did the year before, according to Mapping Police Violence and the Washington Post.

And despite being 12.6 percent of the U.S. population, black people were 26.7 percent of the people killed by police where the race was known. The number of black people killed by police in the last year (215) was more than all the police who died in the line of duty (148), U.S. servicemen killed in action (2) and Americans killed by Islamic terrorists (0) combined.
