Expensive Injustice: MOVE’s 40-Years Behind Bars
By Linn Washington
The recent release of three inmates from prisons in Pennsylvania persons considered political prisoners by many worldwide is a poignant reminder of how the costs of injustice ravage not just those directly targeted for persecution but also the taxpayers who pay for that persecution.
The 40-years of unjust, revenge-driven imprisonment endured by this trio imposed incalculable emotional/physical costs on their lives. Further, that imprisonment cost Pennsylvania taxpayers millions of dollars.
A vivid example of wasted tax revenue is the fact that while each member of this trio was eligible for parole in 2008, the Pennsylvania Parole Board employed specious excuses (persecution) to continue their expensive imprisonment until their release on parole in late Spring 2019.
That trio’s cost of incarceration for just that 11-year span between their parole eligibility and their actual parole release totaled more than $2-million, based on Pennsylvania Department of Corrections data for the per inmate/per year costs….
Consider that Pennsylvania Parole Board members once denied one member of this trio parole demanding that MOVE member take an anger management class despite the fact that this inmate had taken anger management classes, was certified as an anger management instructor and was conducting anger management classes for other inmates with the approval of prison authorities.
This trio is: Janet Africa, Janine Africa and Eddie Africa.

Crusaders of Justicia Calls For Strikes/Boycotts in Response to ICE Raids and Concentration Camps
Emergency Action!!
In response to the announced raids on immigrant workers by the federal government, Crusaders Of Justicia calls on all exploited workers and their supporters to go on a 7 day strike beginning at 7:00 PM Friday night. We also call on all human rights defenders to avoid purchases and other spending during the strike.
For their own protection, Crusaders advises all workers to avoid any work places with undocumented workers to avoid being exposed to dangerous and potentially violent enforcement actions.
The announced enforcement actions will tear apart thousands of families and will create thousands of orphaned children, both immigrants and US citizens. The strike is timed to begin during the Lights For Liberty actions being held throughout the nation to defend the human rights of immigrants.
Please re-post and forward this call to action to all groups and friends who care about protecting human rights.
Crusaders Of Justicia asks all immigrant and human rights organizations to call on their members to join in the strike/boycott. Organizations who are unable are to officially participate are encouraged to re-post and forward Crusaders’ emails and posts about the strike.

Crusaders Of Justicia is a new group formed to fight for justice by the rapidly increasing number of exploited families in the United States. In order to increase the impact for change we believe it is essential to unite the fights of all people under the current administration. We will demand change by taking meaningful actions such as boycotts, strikes, protests and other actions.
Our mission is to mobilize exploited families and their allies to fight for justice. We will target fundamental issues impacting our communities, not just symptoms.

Milwaukee, July 14, 2019: Rally for Reproductive Access at Dontre Hamilton (Red Arrow) Park
Milwaukee Rally For Reproductive Access

Dontre Hamilton (Red Arrow) Park, 920 N Water Street, Milwaukee, 2-3 P.M.
What is Access Fest? In a city that loves festivals, a reoccurring and traveling festival has been formed. Access Fest is a connective gathering to mobilize folks who want to plug into the work ahead to protect and expand access to a spectrum of reproductive healthcare – from free, legal, and medically provided abortion on demand, to supported and safe conditions to conceive, birth and raise healthy children.
Our inaugural gathering will be Sunday, July 14th at 2pm in Red Arrow Park, to display opposition to a hate group ascending onto Wisconsin, OPERATION SAVE AMERICA (OSA). We have joined up with the Abortion Access Front to counter OSA as they invade Milwaukee JULY 13-20 and we need to rally together to let them know their messages of intolerance are not welcome in Wisconsin. Check out garbagefyrefest.com for a week of events to follow the Sunday rally.
“OPERATION SAVE AMERICA IS KNOWN AS ONE OF THE MOST INFLUENTIAL HATE GROUPS IN AMERICA. Each July, hundreds of OSA members from around the country gather in a specific city to spend a week disrupting a community with massive public parades and rallies promoting their anti-choice, anti LGBTQ, and anti- immigrant messages. Their vile imagery and chants of intolerance have inspired progressive activists from Wisconsin and around the country to gather and counter their bigotry and misogyny. Through direct actions, comedy and burlesque shows, we want to put out the Garbage Fyre with messages of love and inclusion.”
Join us as we rally against conservative attacks on abortion rights and reproductive healthcare access and show them that we are an unyielding force in Wisconsin.

Introduction to Chicago Teachers Union Delegation to Venezuela
https://radicaledcollective.wordpress.com/
This spring, the Chicago Teachers Union Executive Board and House of Delegates each unanimously passed a resolution condemning Donald Trump and U.S. intervention in Venezuela. Resources that never seemed to find their way to our classrooms are being used to intervene in the democratic processes of other countries instead.
This blog represents the members delegation of the Chicago Teacher’s Union that are currently in Venezuela to learn from educators and activists on the ground. The rest of this week, we will be reporting on what we learn and see while we are here. We are being aided by Dozthor Zurlent (Educator) and Miguel Ángel Nuñez (Facilitator) from the Education Ministry of Venezuela.
We especially want to thank Financial Secretary, Maria Moreno, and former Recording Secretary, Michael Brunson, for drafting and bringing the resolution to the executive board. You can read and download a copy of the resolution at the link below:
