On Friday, February 28, an administrative law judge issued an order to extend the stay on construction for the Line 5 reroute in northern Wisconsin!
The stay is in response to the lawsuit filed in December 2024 by Midwest Environmental Advocates on behalf of 350 Wisconsin, League of Women Voters of Wisconsin, and Sierra Club. This suit challenged the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources’s decision to approve Enbridge’s controversial 41-mile reroute of the Line 5 oil pipeline around the Bad River Band’s reservation. What does this mean in everyday language? It means that construction on the new route may not proceed until our court case is resolved.
