
In the last few months, successive cyclones, flooding, earthquakes, and massive power outages have had devastating consequences for the people on the island of Cuba. Additional policy changes in Washington have further increased depravations have compounded the effects of widespread and long-term shortages of fuel, medicine and essential supplies.
On Sunday February 16, live concerts were produced to SRO crowds n NYC, Chicago, and in the Bay Area. The concerts were filmed by professional crews and edited to create one 2 hour streaming concert. Organizers across the country will support the outreach effort to reach viewers globally via these watch links
| While the streaming concert will be presented without paywalls, during the event links in the film will invite viewers to make donations to Global Partners for Health ( GPH ) and The People’s Forum (TPF), designated intermediary recipients. Both GPH and TPF are experienced in managing the logistics of large scale relief efforts and are our designated partners to deliver the supplies. The fundraising effort will additionally contribute proceeds directed to support humanitarian aid for Cuba. The national coordinating committee is led by: Bill Martinez, Marguerite Horberg and Hannah Craig with support of local host committees from across the country. The two-hour concert will feature dozens of artists who have donated their time for the project and they include: ORQUESTA LA MODERNA TRADICIÓN JAVIER NAVARRETTE’S, KAI LYONS’ CHARANGÜI WITH SPECIAL GUESTS PELLEJO SECO CUBACARIBE & ARENAS DANCE COMPANY DJ- LUIS MEDINA NORBERTO GUERRA & CHARLIE MEJIAS GRUPO CHA CHA THE SPECIAL EDITION PROYECTO LIBRE SUPER BAND BILLY MARTIN AND CALAPITTER WARNER MEADOWS, EZEMDI AKALONU, AND ANDREW JAVENS An exclusive film created by BELLY OF THE BEAST will lead the program with a brief educational message contextualizing the need for material aid in Cuba. It is anticipated the coordinated efforts from the live concerts and streaming event will raise $50,000 for relief support.
