Thursday, March 20: 4:15 – 5:45: Madison Vigil for Gaza and Palestine – SE Corner of Williamson Steet and Blair
Hello everyone,
In an unprovoked attack in the middle of Ramadan, Israel has resumed both its massive bombardment and ground invasion of Gaza, killing at least 436 including 183 children, and injuring many hundreds more, just since Tuesday.
This follows two weeks of a complete shut off of food, medical supplies, and humanitarian aid, leaving Gaza on the brink of famine and using starvation as a weapon of war. Israel also cut off electricity, which prevents access to everything from drinkable water to lifesaving medical technology
Emergency demonstrations are being held around the country and the world. Here in Madison, there is a Vigil for Gaza and Palestine on Thursday 3-20 at 4:45 pm at the SE corner of Blair and Williamson Streets.
Also, on Saturday March 22 at 2 pm, the WI Coalition for Justice in Palestine is calling for a mass march and demonstration at Red Arrow Park in Milwaukee (see below and here for Facebook listing)
Whether or not you can attend these events, please take a moment to sign these petitions:
#1 Tell Maersk: stop shipping weapons used to kill Palestinians. Activists have just challenged Maersk at their annual shareholder meeting; please help keep up the pressure.
#2: Tell Congress to support an arms embargo on Israel and humanitarian access in Gaza now! (From AFSC)#3: Tell Your Representatives: Stop $12 Billion in Weapons to Israel (Adalah Justice Project)
