FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Press Release: Meriter RNs Set to Strike Beginning May 27
Following negotiations between SEIU WI and UnityPoint Health Meriter on Monday May 19, the union bargaining team released the following statement:
“We began contract negotiations with a simple demand: listen to the nurses. Following months of contract negotiations, UnityPoint Health-Meriter failed to make the necessary movement to reach a tentative agreement with our RN bargaining unit during our final scheduled bargaining session. Nurses have been clear with Meriter management that we will strike for patient and staff safety, improved compensation to retain nurses, and staffing solutions that include the voices of bedside nurses who care for patients day in and day out. Meriter is still not listening to the nurses.
“As a result of management’s inaction, we will strike beginning Tuesday, May 27. Community supporters can sign up to join us on the strike line, contribute to our community strike fund, and receive updates at www.seiuwi.org.”
