Legal Action of Wisconsin is important to many in our community as they:
1) defend our neighbors facing eviction
2) protect elders facing economic exploitation
3) work to ensure farm workers receive the wages they are owed
4) provide advocacy for victims of sexual assault and other crimes
5) assist veterans to keep their housing and disability benefits
Funding for legal services was eliminated with the Walker budget over a decade ago and Wisconsin, unlike most other states, has refused to fund civil legal aid with general revenue in their state budgets. Now the Trump administration also wants to de-fund legal aid at the federal level.
We ask you to join us in requesting funding for civil legal aid in Wisconsin’s budget. State funding is more important than ever in protecting Wisconsin’s communities and union jobs.
