Stop the Milwaukee Police Department (MPD) from acquiring their own Facial Recognition Technology (FRT)!

Hi M4P Community, 

We need your help to stop the Milwaukee Police Department (MPD) from acquiring their own Facial Recognition Technology (FRT), an inaccurate and racist tactic to further criminalize and surveil our community. Tomorrow June 18th, Milwaukee’s Equal Rights Commission (ERC) will address the topic of the MPD and FRT. The ERC is only allowing a mere 30 minutes for public testimony and will not disclose who they’re allowing to speak. 

We must express our opposition; our call to action is as follows: 

1. SIGN THE PETITION 

• Despite the effort to limit hearing from the public, we can show the public’s opposition whether they hear us speak or not. 

2. PACK THE MEETING ROOM

• Let’s fill the space with opposition, let’s show them we come in strength and numbers.

Additionally, we encourage calling and/or writing to your Alderperson to share your opposition or support their own opposition to FRT. You can use this document for scripts and Alderperson information. 

This call to action isn’t unrealistic or unreachable; many cities have a ban on FRT. Let’s add Milwaukee to the list.
