ALERT:
Don’t Let Israel Silence Wisconsin! Contact the WI STATE Legislature
Draft legislation is (once again) being circulated for the State of Wisconsin
to adopt the controversial and widely criticized IHRA definition of anti-Semitism. This would effectively make criticism of Israel grounds to enhance any criminal charge as a “hate crime”, sowing fear among those who want to speak up against a country with a documented history of human rights violations and war crimes.
This is an assault on our freedom of speech and an insult to millions of people living through starvation, apartheid and genocide in Palestine, who need your voice now more than ever.
You can help stop this legislation in its tracks by making these phone calls:
(1) Call State Assembly Minority Leader Greta Neubauer at (608) 237-9166
(2) Call State Senate Minority Leader Diane Hesselbein at (608) 266-6670
(3) Call your own State Representative and Senator; to find who represents you and get their contact information, click here and then enter your address at the top right.
See this recent post from Jewish Voice for Peace-Milwaukee for more details and background information on why the IHRA definition is so dangerous, and for ideas on what to say when you call, check out this link to a recent Code Pink post.
