| Southern Workers Fight Back on October 18 |
| The billionaires are on the offensive, launching attack after attack that’s impacting every section of the working class. Beyond their immediate objectives, they hope that the furious pace of attacks, their consolidation of power, and the uncertainty, division, and fear that is gripping every part of society will keep workers paralyzed and unable to independently intervene to fight back.It is a critical time to redouble our efforts to mobilize workers to participate in and lead the resistance to the billionaire agenda from below, and to support workplace committee building efforts to anchor these efforts going forward. On October 18, a “No Kings” national day of action has been called, and demonstrations are being planned in dozens of cities and towns across the United States. To date, these demonstrations have been important but limited in their ability to raise the issues of and broadly mobilize the many sections of the working class. That must change. To that end, the Southern Workers Assembly is urging workers assemblies, unions and worker organizations, and other progressive forces across the region to: Mobilize coworkers, fellow union members, and other workers to visibly participate in organized workers contingents at upcoming October 18 No Kings, No Billionaires demonstrations Utilize this flier to organize leafletting at shift changes at unorganized, strategic workplaces in your area. Get contact information and follow up to encourage workers there to participate in your workers assembly, begin organizing at work, and come out to the October 18 demonstration. More guidance on conducting this work here. Broaden existing efforts or develop new work to build a workers assembly in your area to connect workplace committees and organizations together and to support ongoing workplace outreach and mobilization If you have questions or need additional support to take this work up locally, please reach out to info@southernworker.org |
