Take Action Tonight or Tomorrow : Email Palmyra Village Board — Say NO to 287(g)!
Dear Voces Members, (for internal use only)
We need your voice to help stop the Village of Palmyra from moving forward with the 287(g) agreement — a harmful program that would turn local police into immigration agents.
The Village Board will meet on Monday, November 3rd in the evening, and they need to hear from all of us before then. We will have Voces representation in the public meeting. This is our chance to stand up for immigrant families, community safety, and justice.
Step 1: Send Your Email TONIGHT or Tomorrow
Introduce yourself, say you’re with Voces de la Frontera, and share that you strongly oppose the 287(g) program because of its negative impact on immigrant families, children, local businesses, and community trust.
Below is a sample message you can copy and personalize and please free to add your own voice.
> Subject: Please Vote NO on 287(g) — Protect Palmyra Families
Dear [Board Member’s Name],
My name is [Your Name], and I’m with Voces de la Frontera. I’m writing to urge you to vote against the 287(g) agreement. This program harms immigrant families, traumatizes children, and undermines trust between the community and local law enforcement.
287(g) would divide our town and waste valuable village resources. Palmyra should be a place where all families feel safe and welcome.
Thank you for considering the voices of residents and allies who believe in unity and inclusion.
Sincerely,
[Your Full Name]
[Your City/Town]
