Saturday, November 29: Gifts and Sweets Sale for Palestine: 12-4 pm, Room of One’s Own Annex, 2717 Atwood Avenue, Madison
Shop with a heart on the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People and Madison’s own Small Business Saturday.
Proceeds will benefit Middle East Children’s Alliance and West Bank families facing demolitions and settler violence in Masafer Yatta.
Featuring: Hand-made jewelry and beautifully embroidered shawls, kuffiyas and bags from Women in Hebron Craft Cooperative; jewelry made in Palestine; Alard kuffiyas from Nablus; baked goods and sweets made by Madison bakers; handmade crafts and art; children’s books about Palestine; solidarity yard signs; and beautiful unique crochet gifts and warm hats and scarves from the talented artists at Madison’s Warda Bayda.
Palestinian olive oil and soap will also be offered for sale, and you can sponsor olive trees in the Madison-Masafer Yatta Olive Grove. Planted in January, these sponsored trees will help Palestinian families in Masafer Yatta replace those destroyed this year by Israel, and will make a lovely a gift or new holiday tradition.
