A November 20, 2025 Press Conference Highlights: Discrimination Complaints Filed Against MATC
On November 19 2025, Attorney Mark Thomsen addressed the four discrimination complaints filed with the WI Equal Rights Division by the four former Multicultural Affairs Office Student Services Specialists who were unjustly terminated after MATC President Dr. Anthony Cruz eliminated the office.
Despite MATC’s statement claiming support for the affected employees, the facts tell a different story:
• Both employees referenced as “still working at MATC” were terminated from their full-time positions.
• One only retained an existing part-time faculty role she has held since 2000.
• The other had to reapply as a new hire for a job paying half the previous salary, losing accumulated sick leave and likely seniority.
Federal courts have already ruled that eliminating DEI programs based on Trump-era directives is unconstitutional and unenforceable. Yet MATC continues to follow these discredited guidelines.
MATC serves a 63% majority-minority student population, including 24% Latino/Hispanic students—communities directly harmed by these actions.
The coalition continues to demand transparency, accountability, and the restoration of the eliminated positions.
