This is also posted at: instagram.com/p/DRTMZ5qDl93/?img_index=1 Thanks to everyone’s support, after two days of calls, Xinachtli’s communication has been restored and we were able to hear from him. He has also been able to sign a release so a lawyer can access his medical records.
But the fight is not over. During this time, prison guards lost his commissary card and threw away many items in his cell like stored food, papers, pens, and more. Xinachtli remains in the infirmary hungry because of his lost commissary card.
We must keep up the pressure to make sure he gets a new card to buy food, receives the care he needs, and for TDCJ to begin the process of transferring him out of the McConnell Unit to a medical facility.

Hello, my name is ________ and I’m calling about the urgent medical situation of Alvaro Hernandez (TDCJ #00255735) at the McConnell Unit.Alvaro’s [or Mr. Hernandez’s] health has deteriorated severely. He can barely walk or stand, and he has fallen twice—one fall causing a head injury. He currently remains in the infirmary hungry, without access to commissary, and with no diagnosis of his condition.I’m calling to ask the following:
- That Alvaro receive a new commissary card so he can buy food.
- That Alvaro remain under medical care to receive a full diagnosis and treatment.
- That Alvaro’s lawyer be given his complete medical records.
