Yesterday, workers of the Hilton Madison Monona Terrace spoke out about their struggle to afford basic necessities — food, housing, and healthcare. According to the report released this week:
33% of surveyed workers said they or someone in their household have skipped medical services because they couldn’t afford it.
20% said they or someone in their household have skipped a meal due to not having enough money for food.
Room attendants, servers, bartenders, cooks, front desk agents, and other workers at the Hilton Madison won union recognition in August and are fighting for their first union contract with better wages and quality, affordable healthcare.
