Starbucks baristas are expanding their picket lines to tell Starbucks it’s time to do right by their workers!
This newest “strike wave” builds on escalations that have made headlines this week, beginning with protests at two of Starbucks’ largest distribution centers in York, PA and Minden, NV that led dozens of delivery trucks to turn away from the picket line as baristas and their allies rallied to condemn Starbucks’ serious and unresolved labor violations. The Teamsters union has sanctioned this strike, thus freeing up unionized drivers to no cross picket lines for deliveries, trash pick-up, and more.
On Tuesday, SAG-AFTRA President Sean Astin, Workers United President Lynne Fox, and allies from across the labor movement joined striking baristas on the picket line in Los Angeles, raising their voices to demand Starbucks heed baristas’ demands for the company to finalize a fair union contract.
And on Thursday, union Starbucks baristas brought their Red Cup Rebellion picket line to the coffee giant’s hometown Thursday for a rally outside Starbucks corporate headquarters. Union baristas, elected officials, and allies from across the labor movement will demand the company resolve hundreds of ULPs, end its historic union busting and return to the bargaining table with new proposals to improve pay, staffing, and scheduling.
An ongoing “Camp Contract” is currently underway in front of the Seattle headquarters, where baristas announced they will not be leaving until Starbucks does right by their workers.
Workers are asking the public to support their fight for a fair workplace by NOT BUYING STARBUCKS at ANY location. Follow @sbworkersunited on social media for updates, and sign the No Contract No Coffee pledge to commit to not crossing a picket line – nocontractnocoffee.org .
