Stop ICE Terror
Wisconsin State Capitol
Madison
1/20/2026
A small but vocal crowd of nearly one hundred gathered at the Forward statue on the steps of the Wisconsin State Capitol.
Madison is a city known for its committed and passionate activists who call out injustices perpetrated by those in power—whether at the local, state, national, or international level. When voices are muted, Madison’s activists come out to amplify them.
The gathering this evening is to protest the surge of ICE agents in and around Minneapolis, MN. Last week, Renee Good was murdered by ICE agent Jonathan Ross, sparking outrage around the world. This criminal act by Ross has only increased support by the people for the removal and abolishment of ICE, an agency whose singular goal appears to be to instill fear.
Yet, the government’s response is not to de-escalate. Rather than reducing tensions, they are doing everything within their assumed powers to escalate and terrorize the people of Minnesota. This appears designed to create fear and compliance around the country as ICE prepares to increase operations in other US cities.
Speakers called for unity and solidarity with Minneapolis, emphasizing that bearing witness is not enough. Each person must find ways to support their communities as ICE and the government carry out terror in our names.
