Chicago baristas spoke up. Now we amplify

Starbucks is allowing ICE agents into stores despite clear worker and community concerns. That’s why workers at a unionized Starbucks store in Minneapolis raised serious concerns about ICE entering the store and brought them directly to their manager, kicking off a wave of actions.

Since then, baristas across the country are doing the same for their communities. Let’s give it up for union baristas in Chicago who took a public stand to demand safer stores.

Starbucks has remained silent on ICE entering our workplaces, even suggesting that baristas must serve ICE agents, despite the violence and kidnappings so many of us have witnessed. With a union, baristas are able to come together and take action when their bosses don’t listen. What you do next matters, too. When customers and community members amplify baristas’ voices, it sends a clear message that they’re not alone.

Collective action is what turns barista demands into real change. Like, comment on, and share this video of Chicago baristas standing up for their community.

Instead of addressing these real, deep concerns, Starbucks is ignoring workers and customers, not just in Minnesota or Chicago, but across the country. Union baristas are demanding that the company update its ICE guidance right now and respect the people who keep these stores running every day.

Baristas are standing up for safer stores. You can help make sure their demands are heard.

In solidarity,
