BCD Racism is thinking about Student Voices for Equity.
Today, hundreds of students at J.I. Case High School walked out to protest the increased presence of ICE in cities across the country.
The walkout was organized by students from the Black Student Union (BSU) , Latino Student Union (LSU) , and Drama Club, coming together to create space for youth voices and concerns to be heard. ![]()
Some BCDR members were there in solidarity, alongside many others from our community, to support students who chose to speak up and stand for what they believe is right. ![]()
It was powerful to see the next generation showing care for their neighbors and their community —young leaders who care about the Constitution, about respecting the law as it’s meant to be applied, and about holding elected officials accountable. These students have access to more information than ever before. They see what’s happening, and they’re choosing not to stay quiet. ![]()
The walkout took place during advisory — no assignments were missed and no class time was lost. Instead of sitting through announcements, students used that time to peacefully exercise their rights and engage in their community. ![]()
