FREE LEQAA KORDIA!

MORE INFO AND NATIONAL PETITION CAMPAIGN HERE

Last March, Leqaa Kordia, a 33-year-old Palestinian woman from New Jersey, was unlawfully detained by ICE for her participation in anti-genocide protests near Columbia University. This is a deeply personal struggle for Kordia; Israel has killed nearly 200 members of her family in its genocidal war on Gaza.

Despite significant deterioration of her health over the past 11 months in custody, including a recent hospitalization for a seizure, ICE still holds her in a Texas detention facility 1,500 miles from her family.

While hospitalized, Leqaa was continuously shackled by metal chains on her arms and legs. She is now back in ICE custody, even though an immigration judge has twice ruled that she is releasable on bond.

We saw last year that members of Congress were able to focus media attention and galvanize political actors by standing up for student protestors unlawfully targeted by ICE for their political views. With the world watching, one by one, student protestors were released. Except for Leqaa.

We can’t leave her behind. We must force our lawmakers to pressure ICE to release Leqaa immediately before it takes a greater toll on her life. We must stand against ICE together as it ravages our communities.
