| 1. If your representative has not yet signed (see discharge petition), call the Congressional House switchboard, (202) 224-3121. Say your zip code and ask to be connected to your Representative. When you are connected, say “My name is ______, I live in (city/state/zip code). I am calling to urge Representative _______ to sign House Resolution 965, the discharge petition to allow a vote to extend Temporary Protected Status for Haitians. Time is of the essence, so I would ask Rep. _______ to sign the discharge petition the next time she/he is on the House floor for a vote. Thank you for your consideration.” 2. Reach out to anyone and everyone who can help explain to the Administration or Republican members of Congress how damaging TPS termination will be for our economy, our communities and our Haitian neighbors. If your employer hires TPS holders, ask them to make calls, especially to the Administration. Ask local chambers of commerce, your church, and any entity that has influence. Be creative and persistent! Our Haitian neighbors need you! |
