On Sun. March 15, 2026, there was another rally in Detroit calling for the end of the war against Iran.
Entering its third week, this renewed genocidal onslaught against the people of Iran, Lebanon and Palestine, has widened throughout the entire West Asia region.
United States President Donald Trump is now sending 5,000 ground troops to the area which can only result in more casualties among the people of the region and Pentagon troops.
The Iranian Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) and its allies have struck U.S. military bases and commercial outlets in the UAE, Qatar, Iraq, Jordan and other areas while their missiles are hitting deep inside the Occupied Palestinian Territories.
The State of Israel which has occupied Palestine since 1948 is deliberately bombing areas in neighboring Lebanon, dislocating hundreds of thousands and killing over 1500.
The IRGC has closed the Strait of Hormuz only allowing shipping vessels to pass which are non-antagonistic to Tehran.
This war, which was initiated by Washington and Tel Aviv, has no justification within international law and will only create more hostility towards imperialism and its zionist proxies.
The demonstration held on March 15 was organized by the Moratorium NOW! Coalition, Michigan Emergency Committee Against War & Injustice (MECAWI) and the Anti-Fascist Organizing Coalition (AFOC).
Representatives from numerous organizations spoke about the war and its links to domestic issues. The Michigan Coalition Against Genocide, Detroit Will Breathe, Democratic Socialist of America (DSA), the Coalition to Shut the Camps (CSC), Michigan Green Party, We the People of Dissent, among others, addressed the crowd.
All of the speakers emphasized that this is clearly an imperialist war of choice. Yet, it will be the working and oppressed peoples of the U.S. and around the world who will pay dearly for the actions of the Trump administration.
