Doors open at 4 P.M. followed by speakers at 5 P.M. and performers from 6-8 P.M. There’s a $10 suggested donation.

“I’ve long admired the work of the WI Bail Out the People Movement as a beacon in my home state,” Melinda Butterfield, keynote speaker for April 25, said. “It’s an honor to be invited to speak on this important anniversary, at this moment of great peril for trans and queer communities, and all poor and working people. Nothing is more important right now than building solidarity and unity to fight back against the billionaires and politicians who want to divide us.”

Melinda Butterfield (she/her) is an organizer with Women In Struggle-Mujeres En Lucha. A lifelong activist, she is a proud trans woman who grew up in Wisconsin. In 2023, Melinda initiated and was a lead organizer of the National March to Protect Trans Youth in Orlando, Florida. She is co-editor of the socialist publication Struggle-La Lucha. Melinda lives in Brooklyn, New York.

This event will feature other speakers, free literature tables from labor and community organizations including May Day 2026 information.

Wisconsin Bail Out the People Movement formed in 2011 in the midst of bank bail outs and foreclosures and after the implementation of the anti-union Jim Crow based Act 10 which eliminated almost all public sector worker collective bargaining in Wisconsin.
