Ric Urrutia Biography
Ric Urrutia has been training labor and community groups on how to research information for social justice causes since 2000. He began by teaching activists in Detroit how to research information for environmental justice campaigns. Shortly after that, he was accepted to the University of Massachusetts Labor Center where he focused much of his energy on learning how to research corporations. More specifically: how to find the vulnerabilities in corporations so they recognize union organizing drives and negotiate fair contracts with workers.
He differentiates himself from other labor researchers in that he applies a class analysis to his method and wholly shares his complete knowledge to all groups interested in learning these skills. He received two bachelors degrees in political science and journalism from Rutgers University and his Masters degree in Labor Studies from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. During his spare time he enjoys reading political theory, cooking, playing bass in a cumbia band, and spending time with loved ones.
