Corporate Research Events in Sheboygan April 23 and Manitowoc April 24 to Focus on ICE & Data Centers
Two events in the Lakeshore Area will feature national corporate researcher Ric Urrutia. Urrutia will present in Sheboygan April 23 at 6 p.m. at 529 Ontario Street and on Friday, April 24, 2026 at 4 P.M. at 502 N 8th Street in Manitowoc.
The events are co-sponsored by We Rise Fighting Labor Podcast, Progressive Lakeshore People, Wisconsin Bail Out the People Movement, Family Farm Defenders and Veterans for Peace (Sheboygan Chapter).
Ric Urrutia, a Co-Host of We Rise Fighting Labor Podcast, has been teaching others how to research corporations, government agencies, and elected officials for over 20 years. His presentations focus on corporations and political power structures. Urrutia bases his research on the idea that a better world is possible and that every day, working-class people are capable of creating it. This presentation will focus on the interlocking corporate and banking interests of ICE and data center owners and the grave dangers these entities pose for family farmers, the environment, workers, water and our communities. And how labor and community members are fighting back.
Ric Urrutia has been training labor and community groups on how to research information for social justice causes since 2000. He began by teaching activists in Detroit how to research information for environmental justice campaigns. Shortly after that, he was accepted to the University of Massachusetts at Amherst Labor Center where he focused much of his energy on learning how to research corporations. More specifically: how to find the vulnerabilities in corporations so they recognize union organizing drives and negotiate fair contracts with workers.
He differentiates himself from other labor researchers in that he applies a class analysis to his method and wholly shares his complete knowledge to all groups interested in learning these skills. He received two bachelor’ degrees in political science and journalism from Rutgers University and his Masters degree in Labor Studies from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. During his spare time he enjoys reading political theory, cooking, playing bass in a cumbia band, and spending time with loved ones.
Urrutia will also be in Madison April 25 to participate in a 15th anniversary celebration for Wisconsin Bail Out the People Movement, a co-endorse of the Sheboygan and Manitowoc Corporate Research events.
