Welcome to Solidarity Saturday, your weekly highlight reel and shortcut to staying plugged in.

Corporations will always look for a way out. A union keeps them honest. Every week, the proof is in the brew.

Allies, the ask hasn’t changed: don’t buy Starbucks, delete the app, and don’t look back until workers have fair contracts. Let’s get into it.

He Got Fired. Then He Got His Job Back. And $5,000.

Caleb was fired two months ago. His store’s union didn’t let it stand. They won reinstatement, $5,000 in backpay, and got the discipline scrubbed from his file. He’s not the only one. Reinstatements and backpay wins are happening across our union. Don’t wait until it’s too late. Organize now and make your store better than you found it.

The First Store Has Something to Say.

It’s official: Pike Place is organizing their union. Baristas at Starbucks’s original flagship are joining the fight for better staffing, stronger on-the-job protections, and an end to hundreds of unresolved labor violations. They aren’t mincing words: “Let us be clear: We are forming a union because we care deeply about every single one of our coworkers, and believe that everyone deserves to have what they need to thrive at work.”

Trans and Queer Baristas Have Been Sounding the Alarm for Years.

They’ll put a trans or queer barista in the ad, but they won’t protect them on the floor. Starbucks is the largest violator of labor law in modern history, and queer and trans workers have been living that reality for years. Our union is led by LGBTQ+ workers fighting for real protections and better conditions for everyone. Learn more.

Union baristas are united in our fight for higher wages for the lowest-paid workers, three-worker minimum staffing levels, more hours for baristas, health and safety improvements, and a host of protections against discrimination and unfair treatment at work. These aren’t big asks. They’re the baseline. See what we’re fighting for.

In solidarity,

Starbucks Workers United
