Some sincere people have been clinging to the notion that Ukraine is a victim of “Russian aggression” and deserves support. Of course, this ignores mountains of evidence that US imperialism organized a coup in Kiev in 2014 installing a right-wing, anti-Russia government in Ukraine with the aim of having Ukraine fight as a proxy against Russia to weaken, or even cause a regime change, in that nation.
Ukraine’s true nature as a puppet of the US and NATO is now further exposed. Ukraine has joined the US war against Iran. It is being widely reported that Ukraine is providing the Gulf state monarchies with drone technologies to protect them from Iranian drones launched in retaliation for those US dependencies hosting US military bases used in this new round of imperialist aggression.
A report from the Associated Press on March 20 said, “Ukrainian officials are helping five countries in the Middle East and Gulf region counter attacks on their territory by Iranian drones.” The article quotes Ukraine President Zelensky as saying, “Our teams are already working with five countries countering ‘Shahed’ drones – we have provided expert assessments and are helping build a defense system.”
In addition, “Ukrainian military specialists are operating in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait and Jordan.” Zelensky told journalists that “228 Ukrainian experts are currently deployed in the region” and that “the U.S. has asked for expert support for their military personnel in two areas of the region.” https://apnews.com/article/russia-ukraine-war-us-talks-iran-drones-40ad8f5481d954fe8207c3d576d540f7
Over the past few years Ukraine has also been accused by several African nations of giving military support to guerilla groups fighting their governments. United World reported on August 28, 2025 “ intelligence reports from various countries accuse Ukraine of supplying advanced UAVs [drones], such as the UJ-26 ‘Beaver,’ to armed groups in Sudan, Niger, Burkina Faso, and Somalia, where they are used to attacking government forces and infrastructure.
“Sudanese Foreign Ministry officials claim that Ukraine provided drones to the Rapid Support Forces and participated in attacks on cities such as Port Sudan, At-Tabara, and El Fasher.
“Officials from the Alliance of Sahel States (Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso) have repeatedly accused Kyiv of supporting terrorists like the FLA and JNIM, leading to Mali and Niger severing diplomatic relations with Ukraine in August 2024.” https://unitedworldint.com/37120-ukraine-from-energy-sabotage-in-europe-to-sponsoring-terrorism-in-africa/
On its homefront battlefields Ukraine’s military is in deep trouble. A March 17, 2026 report by the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace opens with a bleak picture of “Ukraine’s Manpower Challenge: “Ukraine is facing an increasingly acute military manpower challenge. Severe shortages in frontline units, reduced voluntary recruitment, fatigue among long-serving personnel, record rates of absence without leave [desertions], and growing public unease with mobilization practices have become defining features of the war.“
As the tempo of fighting increases with the onset of spring and summer, it will emerge whether Russia’s dominance in troop numbers and weapons will continue last year’s gains on the battlefield.
