Racine, May 23, 2019: The People’s Pardon

The People’s Pardon

2100 Layard Avenue, Racine, 4:30 P.M.

Youth Empowered in the Struggle (YES) is raising money to pay unpaid and expired tickets and citations of Horlick students. These children are not alone, and we must draw attention to this injustice.

Will you join us to end the practice of ticketing our children in Racine’s public schools?

YES, leaders are surveying all students at Horlick to identify those with an unpaid ticket. All funds raised will go towards paying off a students ticket and to building a campaign to help lift Racine off of the worst cities for our African American community. YES is prioritizing seniors and assistance will be given on first come first serve basis.

Within only the first round of surveys we have already found $18,000 dollars of unpaid fines within our school.

We will not sit idly by and watch another generation of children leave high school wrapped up in the justice system. We hope you can help. Please donate as much money as you possibly can to this noble cause.

WE SAY ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!

Will you help end Racine’s school to prison pipeline?

National Lawyers Guild International Statement on the Venezuelan Embassy and U.S. Sanctions

https://nlginternational.org/

The National Lawyers Guild International Committee unequivocally condemns the threats posed by the government of the United States and Washington D.C. Police Department to the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. We also condemn the unilateral financial sanctions imposed by the U.S. government intended to force “regime change” in Venezuela by limiting people’s access to basic goods necessary for survival.

As a legal organization committed to the promotion and defense of international law and human rights, the NLG demands that federal and local law enforcement abide by all applicable legal standards governing diplomatic protections, sovereignty and freedom of assembly. This includes the provisions of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations which requires the U.S. to recognize the inviolability of embassies and to “take all appropriate steps to protect the premises of the mission against any intrusion.” The Vienna Convention was ratified by the United States in 1972 and thus is a part of federal law.

The legitimacy of the Maduro presidency should be left to the Venezuelan people to decide via their own electoral processes, and it is entirely unjustified for members of the United States government to openly call for or support a military coup, including Senator Marco Rubio, National Security Advisor John Bolton, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Special Ambassador Elliott Abrams. Self-proclaimed president Juan Guaidó has no legitimate claim under the Bolivarian Constitution (Sections 233 and 234).

Since 2006, the NLG has sent multiple delegations to observe local and national Venezuelan elections. We have observed the process noted by the Carter Center as one of the best electoral processes in the world, with its paper receipts, open source software and the public audit to compare paper and digital votes at close of polls. Even the opposition has admitted the Venezuelan election system is “fraud-proof.”

Both the proposed takeover of the Venezuelan Embassy by the Guaidó agents and the criminal unilateral economic sanctions imposed on Venezuela by the U.S. to bring about regime change by crippling the Venezuelan economy and thwarting the basic needs of the Venezuelan people constitute a clear violation of international law.

The National Lawyers Guild condemns the on-going attempted coup d’etat organized by the United States and evocation of the ignominious Monroe Doctrine in clear violation of the basic sovereignty provisions of the UN and OAS Charters.

Blackwater founder’s plan for mercenaries in Venezuela: Report

https://tinyurl.com/y3ue28ox

Erik Prince – the founder of the controversial private security firm Blackwater and a prominent supporter of US President Donald Trump – has been pushing to deploy a private army to help topple Venezuela‘s socialist president, Nicholas Maduro, four sources with knowledge of the effort told Reuters.

Over the last several months, the sources said, Prince has sought investment and political support for such an operation from influential Trump supporters and wealthy Venezuelan exiles.

In private meetings in the United States and Europe, Prince sketched out a plan to field up to 5,000 soldiers-for-hire on behalf of Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaido, according to two sources with direct knowledge of Prince’s pitch.

One source said Prince has conducted meetings about the issue as recently as mid-April….

International Community Condemns ‘Israeli Terrorism’ in Gaza as Death Toll Reaches 18

The ongoing Israeli airstrikes on besieged Gaza strip killed 18 people so far including a pregnant woman, a 15-month-old child, and a Hamas commander even though the Israeli military said it has hit hundreds of targets in Gaza “belonging to Palestinian militant groups.”

The attacks drew criticism from international players.

Turkey’s President Tayyip Erdogan slammed the attacks calling them “Israeli terrorism” after the strikes destroyed the Turkish state media office in Gaza.

“We strongly condemn Israel’s attack against Anadolu agency’s office in Gaza,” he said on Twitter. “Turkey and Anadolu agency will continue to tell the world about Israeli terrorism and atrocities in Gaza and other parts of Palestine despite such attacks.”

Saeb Erekat, Secretary General of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), called on the international community to restore calm.

“We hold the Israeli government fully responsible for this aggression and call upon Egypt the UN and others in the international community to continue exerting every possible effort to restore calm,” Erakat said….

Fatmah Hjazi, 16 years old, was shot in the head by an Israeli sniper at Gaza yesterday. She was unarmed, simply holding a Palestinian flag, protesting against the inhuman Israeli siege.
