House Fire Recovery for Steph Ortiz & Family in Green Bay

https://bit.ly/2t34dIl

Hello Family & Friends,

My house caught on fire and damage is so excessive that my roommates and I will be displaced for at least 6 months. 6 adults lived in my home and also 1 child. I have to keep making my mortgage payments and my roommates simply wont be able to afford their monthly fees on top of finding another place to be temporarily. All of the financial support will go towards my mortgage payments and I appreciate any amount anyone can give. I’m a 1st generation home owner and this is just devastating. I was so proud of my home. I felt such a deep sense of gratitude waking up in a home i knew was mine and that i worked really hard for. I felt a deep privilege of being able to let loved ones stay with me when necessary. Thank you everyone in advance for any donations and any support you send our way.

Please keep my cousin Freddy in your prayers. He has 3rd degree burns and has a long road of recovery ahead.

Thank you,
Steph Ortiz

Given the Israeli state’s rejection of their existence, government officials have called the Palestinians living in these villagers “violators” and “squatters” – accusing them of illegally occupying “state lands.”

Crises of Governance Escalates in Western Capitalist States. Trump, Macron, May

Global Research, January 29, 2019

“…Plant closings announced by General Motors in November 2018 in both the U.S. and Canada, portends much for the auto industry in the current period. The tax dollars of working people bailed out the car industry simultaneously with the banks and insurance companies after 2008. Therefore the ruling class interests benefitted from government intervention while working people, African Americans, Latinx and others slipped further into economic decline.

Both Democrats and Republicans represent the ruling class in the U.S. and internationally notwithstanding the existence of divergent constituencies at their base. Although there was a shift within the House of Representatives after the November midterm elections towards more women and people of color, the commanding heights of power within Congress remains under the control of the conservative and centrist forces within the Democratic Party. The putative “left” of the party is by no means socialist in any genuine sense particularly as it relates to international questions. The Democratic Party is still pro-imperialist as indicated by continued support for the State of Israel, the hostility towards Syria, Iran and Russia and the failure to oppose the Trump administration’s attempted coup against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

In order to reverse the contemporary crises there must be a new political alliance centered among the proletariat and the oppressed where the rights of the majority are held as paramount. Consequently the Pentagon war budget should be eliminated and the abolition of racism, national oppression, gender discrimination and xenophobia would have to be the cornerstone of creating a free and just society.”

Supporters of Jonathon Tubby Demand Justice at Diverse Green Bay Protest, Vow To Continue Building People’s Movement

By WI BOPM

GREEN BAY, WI — A diverse crowd of dozens  participated in a “Rally Against Police Privilege” (Justice For Jonathon Tubby) protest Feb. 2, 2019 in Green Bay. The action was called after the Green Bay District Attorney’s Office announced Feb. 1 that no charges would be brought against the killer cops that murdered Jonathon. Tubby’s family has filed a federal lawsuit.

Participants at the Black Lives United – Green Bay sponsored protest came from throughout the Green Bay area, various Indigenous Nations, Manitowoc, Oshkosh, Racine and other locations.

Beginning with chants for justice such as “Native Lives Matter,” and “Black Lives Matter,” a circle speak out took place followed by a march on the Green Bay police station (See photos below).

Speakers throughout the event expressed their outrage regarding the police murder of Jonathon, sent condolences and solidarity to his family and pledged future support. Many made connections to the thousands of mostly Black and Brown people murdered by police in recent years and the ongoing colonial occupation of Indigenous Nations and other oppressed peoples and all the brutality that entails such as police/military occupations and under or no employment.

Before departing, the multinational crowd vowed to continue to fight for justice for Jonathon and others murdered by the police and to continue building the people’s movement.
