From a Unity@Verizon Email Message:
We’re Not Alone in This Fight
We’re getting tremendous support from our union brothers and sisters, on the picket lines and in public statements. The AFL-CIO has been supportive in every state, with President Denis Hughes joining our pickets in New York on Tuesday and Pennsylvania Secretary-Treasurer Frank Snyder joining our pickets in Harrisburg.
Teamsters President James P. Hoffa Jr. issued a statement of support this morning, echoing the leadership of many other unions. Members of the UFCW have been showing up at picket lines with food and drink, and members of the Postal Workers, Steelworkers, UNITE HERE, and other unions are picking up signs and adding their voices.
CWA and IBEW locals in other sectors and outside the footprint have taken on our fight as their own, from picketing a San Francisco Wireless store to refusing to act as managers who are sent East to scab.
CWA President Larry Cohen will be on the Ed Schultz show tonight, August 10, 10:30 p.m. EDT.
More than 30,000 people have signed our petition calling Verizon out on its corporate greed. Get your friends and family to sign on today.
