Over 2,000 in West Allis tell Nazi’s: ‘Get Out!’

In West Allis Sept. 3 over 2,000 counter-protesters came out on Labor Day weekend and in the pouring rain to tell the Nazi’s that their hatred, racism and anti-union stance should get out of town. The Nazi’s held a brief ‘rally’ at city hall where they were directly confronted by a multinational, intergenerational crowd of counter-protesters holding signs such as “Jobs Not Hate,” and banners declaring slogans such as: “West Allis Says NO To Racism & Union-Busting.” Protected by well over 150 police from all over Metro Milwaukee and beyond which cost taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars, the Nazi’s were drowned out by the crowd and their chants such as “Hey, Ho, Hey, Ho Nazi Hate Has Got To Go.” A coalition of over 30 organizations throughout Metro Milwaukee mobilized for over two weeks for the counter-protest. Delegations of counter-protesters from Madison, Green Bay, Detroit and elsewhere came out to confront the Nazi’s. The morning of Sept. 3 the L.U.V. Brigade and other African American community organizations held an anti-Nazi event at Red Arrow Park in downtown Milwaukee. Participants of this event then traveled to West Allis to join the counter-protesters there.
