Dear Friends:

This unjust and racist decision to deny clemency for Troy Davis is not unexpected but is still shocking and deeply painful to all of us. The All Peoples Congress along with other groups had scheduled a protest this Wednesday — this protest was set by consensus at the Sept 16th emergency protest in downtown Baltimore.

We will continue with our plans.

The racist legal lynching of an innocent man is meant not only to deny justice to Troy Davis and his family — it is also aimed at all justice loving people — it is aimed at poor and working people everywhere — particularly the most oppressed.  It is a form of terror.

The message is to give up resistance and struggle.

In a time when the capitalist economic system is in total decay — when joblessness, war and racism are on the rise — we are being told “Do not fight back”.

On Wednesday, we will gather to say NO to this message!

We will gather to STAND with Troy Davis to let him know that he is not alone!

We will gather to express our LOVE for his family and supporters!

And we will gather to continue the FIGHT FOR JUSTICE!

No one knows better than Troy Davis that the struggle for justice is long and hard. He has always asked his supporters to extend their activism to all the many others who are subjected to similar denials of fairness under this system of class and race bias.

We will turn our anger, disappointment and outrage to a firm resolve to challenge, resist and build the kind of movement capable of overturning the injustices and racism that are endemic to this system and to fight for a better world for all.

The power of the people will prevail!
