Occupy Green Bay Declares: ‘Make The Banks Pay’

Dozens of poor and working people came out in Green Bay today at City Hall as part of the Occupy Wall Street Movement. After having a informational picket line at the City Hall, protesters marched to Chase Bank chanting “Bail Out The People Not The Banks,” and hoisting signs with demands such as “Cancel Student Loan Debt Now” and “Education Not Deportation.” A People’s Speak-Out was held at Chase Bank where youth, students, seniors, union members and others spoke out on the bank’s criminal activity such as foreclosing on them. Protesters then marched around the Green Bay courthouse before going back to City Hall for another speak-out. The demonstration received a rousing response with cars honking in support and passerby joining in with the protesters.

Another Occupy Green Bay event will take place Saturday, Oct. 15 at 3 p.m. at the City Hall, 100 N. Jefferson.
