Milwaukee, May 18: Hear Alicia Jrapko, Argentine-born Activist & Coordinator of the International Committee for the Freedom of the Cuban 5!

Friday, May 18, 7 pm — 804 E. Wright St., Milwaukee

Ms. Jrapko will speak on the case and the prison artwork of Gerardo
Hernandez which is now on display at the Dominion Gallery through May
26th.  Hernandez was sentenced to two life sentences in a
controversial trial in Miami, for non-violently attempting to deter
terrorism in Miami against Cuba and people who support dialogue with
Cuba.  There will also be related events at 7 pm every Friday and
Saturday in May at the gallery (see www.wicuba.org).

Alicia Jrapko was forced to flee her native Argentina during the
repressive military dictatorship which tortured and killed 30,000 of
its opponents.  She has coordinated efforts to publicize the case of
the Cuban 5 throughout the world.  This event is happening in
conjunction with Gerardo Hernandez’s “Humor From My Pen” exhibit of
prison art, currently on display at Dominion Gallery, with over 30
pieces (plus an interactive replica of Hernandez’s prison cell).  His
works mix humor and political satire, showing his continued optimism
even after serving over 13 years (two of them in solitary
confinement).

Don’t miss out on a month of great events at the gallery through May
26!
