Madison, August 29: Solidarity Sing Along at Fast Food Worker Strike / Other Actions in Milwaukee & Wausau

http://tinyurl.com/pneozma

Fast wood workers and other low-wage workers are planning a nationwide strike on August 29 to demand a living wage, dignity, decent working conditions, and the right to form a union without retaliation. After all, those are the basic reasons why unions are needed in the first place.

Locally, this will be the first action connected with this campaign. Milwaukee has already seen a couple citywide strikes under the name of Raise Up MKE that have been successful in building the movement there.

Here in Madison, there will be a rally at 4:30 at Library Mall, followed by a march up State Street to the Capitol, where there will be a post-march rally. We will sing one song (probably “Solidarity Forever”) at the Library Mall to send the march off on a good note, then we will join the march to Veteran’s Plaza (across the street from the Capitol by the State Street corner), where we will sing a few more labor solidarity songs, so please come on down & sing along! Everyone would be invited to join in, of course!
