Racine, January 19: Dr. King Day Celebration

SCHEDULE:
8 – 11:30am COMMUNITY SERVICE
High school students – meet at Julian Thomas Elementary (930 MLK Dr.) to start our day of celebration by doing community service at a number of sites across the city.

11:30 – 12:15pm RALLY AT DR. KING STATUE
When the youth return from doing community service, we will hold a rally at the statue of Martin Luther King, Jr. on the corner of State St. and MLK Dr.

1 – 3pm SOCIAL JUSTICE WORKSHOPS
From there, we will go to the Racine Labor Center (2100 Layard Ave.) where we will have workshops focused on issues of social justice. Workshop specifics TBA.

5 – 7:30pm COMMUNITY DINNER AND CELEBRATION
Starting at 5pm at the George Bray Neighborhood Center (924 Center St.), we will have a dinner and celebration open to the whole community. The celebration will include student performers, a keynote speaker, music, and dancers. Dinner is $2 a plate and free for kids under 12.
