The issue of whether or not to spend money on the jail has come to a vote and it’s time for Madison to stand up and let the County Board know that we want that money spent on black lead initiatives that will help address the root causes of the racial disparities in Dane County.
We’re calling on our County to make history by divesting in the prison system and investing in community.
We continue to push for our demands:
That the County abandon all plans to renovate or build a jail and instead invest that money in our communities.
That the County invest in black led initiatives as Blacks are the most impacted by racial disparities.
That the County free 350 black people incarcerated due to crimes of poverty.
That the County end solitary confinement. It is inhumane and unjust.
