The Appalachian Workers Alliance (AWA) fights to build a stronger working class by uniting full and part time workers, including students and the unemployed. We are dedicated to struggling against oppression in all forms (Racism, Sexism, Homophobia, etc.), the fight against capitalism, and promoting a deep ecological viewpoint. AWA seeks to fully liberate central Appalachia from these means of social control by uplifting Appalachian history and culture while also pushing for the democratization of the region by putting its control directly into the hands of the working class. AWA is a non-sectarian organization and wants to help bring about and be a part of a truly mass movement of people.
