From FRSO Fightback:
Dear comrades and friends –
Last week, Donald Trump won the election for president. Having run a campaign filled with hate, his victory was shocking. In response, a million people have taken to the streets since then – from Chicago to New York, Minneapolis to East Los Angeles, Salt Lake City to Miami to Houston – rejecting his racist, homophobic, and sexist agenda.
The people have shown the way: we need to Fight Back!
And so we write to remind you to attend the 25th Annual People’s Thanksgiving Dinner. We gather each year to reflect on the struggles waged, victories won, and challenges ahead. We started this tradition 25 years ago as an act of solidarity with the indigenous peoples of the Americas. We gather this year as the biggest upsurge of struggle of Native Americans in generations is taking place in Standing Rock, North Dakota.
And while Trump’s election is terrible news, there is a wave of struggle that we need to join and build. As Freedom Road Socialist Organization said in our statement responding Trump’s victory, “He is not our president. We need to do everything we can to drown his administration in a high tide of struggle and fightbacks.”
Gather together with us in the spirit of the working class martyr, Joe Hill: “Don’t Mourn, Organize.”
In struggle –
Joe Iosbaker, Freedom Road Socialist Organization
