Madison, Feb. 4: Pipeline Fighters’ Benefit Extravaganza

Pipeline expansion is not just a problem at Standing Rock! It is a problem right here in Dane County as well as other counties across our state.

For this reason, activists with 350 Madison Climate Action Team and MAMA came together to host this powerful and family friendly event to protect our state from corporate oil & gas interests.

We need to raise awareness and funds to combat the Enbridge pipeline expansion because our government has failed to do so. All proceeds will go to benefit legal defense and other actions to stop the pipeline expansion.

The event will kick-off with an Art Build at 10:00am. Anyone interested in making political posters, banners, and cardboard critter hats is welcome! Space is limited though so signing up in advance with Phyllis Hasbrouck at phyllisofmadison@gmail.com is recommended.

A fun-filled afternoon program starts at 5:00pm with a welcome and opening ceremony followed by a meal of foods that would be threatened by a pipeline spill. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early; only the first 100 will be served.

Speakers include Ronni Monroe, of Brave Wisconsin, and Peter Anderson of 350 Madison Climate Action Team.

Diverse and dynamic acts will then take the stage until midnight. Performances will feature favorite local talents. (See schedule below.)

A silent auction will run throughout the event where you’ll be able to bid on exceptional crafts and other items from local artists and businesses. Representatives of grassroots environmental groups will be on hand with literature and ways to get involved. A game of Environmental Jeopardy and a piñata smashing for kids of all ages.
