OPEN LETTER FROM UAW LOCAL 9, SOUTH BEND, INDIANA
White Shirt Day – 80th Anniversary of the end of the Flint Sit-Down Strike
We the members of Local #9 UAW are requesting a Call of Action from you and your organization as we return to our roots and remember the Brothers and Sisters who participated in the sit down strikes of 1936.
Please join us at Noon on Saturday February 11th as we remember those that have fought for worker rights in the past and those that continue the fight today. This event will be held at the Local #5 UAW hall located at 1426 S. Main St. in South Bend, Indiana, in collaboration with Local #9 and #5, Autoworker Caravan, along with Saint Joseph’s County Jobs with Justice.
This event is to celebrate what our forefathers have gained for us and to help the educate others on issues workers are facing today, including an update on the 9 month long “lock-out” of Local #9 and #1508 workers at the Honeywell Aerospace facilities here in South Bend and Green Island, NY.
Thanks for your participation and we look forward to seeing you.
Todd Treder, Vice President
and
