It recently came to light that on May 23, the U.S. expelled two Cuban diplomats from the U.S., in response to bizarre and unfounded charges that Cuba had allegedly attacked U.S. diplomats in Havana with an unknown “acoustic weapon” and damaged their hearing. We demand that the Trump administration cease its threats against Cuba. We fully support the Government of Cuba’s condemnation of this unwarranted U.S. accusation. The statement follows:

“Our country’s impeccable track record in this area is recognized internationally and Cuba is universally considered as a safe destination for both visitors and foreign diplomats, including Americans.

The US corporate media has spent months championing the cause of everyone they know in Venezuela, even the slightest of publicly known figures, as long as they are willing to go on record and slander the government of Nicolas Maduro. These quotes are religiously parroted by every major US media outlet that only wants readers, viewers and listeners to hear one side of the ongoing fight in Venezuela.

Her name was Heather Heyer. She was 32 years old. On August 12th, in Charlottesville, she was murdered by a white supremacist who drove his car into a rally of people confronting white supremacists. She died and dozens of others, many of them socialists, were injured and traumatized. She was reportedly a member of the Industrial Workers of the World and the Democratic Socialists of America. And she died, resisting Nazis in 2017.
Her last Facebook-post read: “If you’re not outraged, you’re not paying attention.”
May she rest in power.
Heather Heyer, presente!

Issued August 12, 2017
WASHINGTON — SEIU International President Mary Kay Henry issued the following statement condemning Saturday’s attacks by white supremacists in Charlottesville, Va.:
“SEIU members condemn the violence spread by white supremacists in today’s deadly terror attack. Our hearts are heavy with grief for the families who are now dealing with the death or injury of a loved one.
“This tragedy is a reminder that as a nation, we have yet to address the long legacy of racism and slavery that is deeply embedded in our history and experienced in our present day. We cannot be silent and must speak out against the violence and intimidation we have seen in Charlottesville and far too many other cities. Working people must, and we will, join together and organize our communities to eliminate racism at all levels and create a world where everyone, no matter the color of their skin, can participate, prosper and reach our full potential.”

National Nurses United Press Release, 8/12/17
National Nurses United today condemned the violence in Charlottesville, VA today sparked by a white supremacist rally in the town that resulted in the death of at least one person and multiple injuries.
NNU also criticized what it called an “inadequate response” by President Trump in characterizing the appalling scene in Charlottesville as a product of violence “on many sides.”
“There can be no doubt that the appalling display of white supremacy and hatred on display in Charlottesville today was the precipitator of the violence,” said NNU Executive Director RoseAnn DeMoro.
“As a society, it is incumbent upon all of us to forcefully repudiate all expressions of white supremacy, racial hatred, and bigotry,” said DeMoro. “Anyone familiar with the history of how white supremacy has stained our nation and our democracy can not be surprised that continued expressions of that virulent philosophy would lead to violence today.”
“All of our nation’s elected leaders, starting in the White House, have a responsibility to condemn racial hatred and the violence it encourages, and disassociate from those promoting it,” DeMoro said.
DeMoro praised peaceful protesters who “showed the best of America in taking a stand for cultural diversity and understanding among all people. We have a long ways to go to assure the equality, civil rights and civil liberties of all our people. There’s no time to waste.”
