The International Action Center founded by former Attorney General Ramsey Clark and based in the United States responds to the suspension of Venezuela from MERCOSUR.

We strongly reject the decision taken by the governments of Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay to impose an illegitimate suspension of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela from MERCOSUR.

With the justification of a “democratic rupture” these countries, where true democracy is actually at stake, have exposed the hidden hand of US imperialism that has sought to destroy the Bolivarian Revolution since its inception in 1998.

The brave people of Venezuela have given a great lesson of courage and democracy to the world when, on July 30th, they emerged from the furthest corners, risking their lives on many occasions when facing the violent terrorist violence of the opposition right, to go en masse and vote for the National Constituent Assembly. More than 8 million Venezuelans said: Stop the violence, we want peace!

But these governments do not understand peace or popular democracy. Their “democracy” is the tyranny imposed by capital against the well-being of the masses. Their “democracy” is truly the subjugation to the great interests emanating from the White House, Wall Street and their own oligarchies.

From the United States we embrace the Bolivarian and Chavista people of Venezuela.

United States and its allies in Mercosur and the region, They will not pass!

Long live the Bolivarian Revolution, an example of dignity!

Long live the Constituent Assembly!

Venezuela votes: Massive support for Constituent Assembly

“…Popular movements, especially in Latin America, have been very successful in defending the Bolivarian people’s right to self-determination. Pickets, forums, demonstrations, television and radio programs are continuing. Social networks are filled with messages and expressions of solidarity.

All these movements have emphasized the relevance of the Bolivarian Revolution as an example of the awakening of the peoples. People are confronting the increased threats posed by capitalism in its decadent phase, which is nevertheless still virulent as it tries to recover losses due to the achievements of social movements.

The same forces also see the success of the Constituent Assembly and the Bolivarian Revolution as their own triumph. Should there be, in the worst case, a defeat, they will view it as a setback for their own popular movements. And that’s why other peoples feel in their own skins the pain of the interventionist attacks of global capital.

Yes to the Constituent Assembly! Forward! Long live the Bolivarian Revolution and international solidarity!”

Dr. Liz Theoharis for a Mass Meeting for the Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival on Monday, August 28 at 7:00 pm at St. Gabriels Church of God in Christ. You can hear about the inspiration, vision and strategy for the Campaign. Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival. The Campaign aims to build a broad and deep national moral fusion movement – rooted in the leadership of the poor, marginalized and moral agents and reflecting the great moral teachings – to unite our country from the bottom up.

The call for a Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival has emerged from more than a decade of work by grassroots community and religious leaders, organizations and movements fighting to end systemic racism, poverty, militarism, environmental destruction & related injustices and to build a just, sustainable and participatory society. We draw on the history, vision and unfinished work of the 1968 Poor People’s Campaign.

There is a resounding call to save the very soul of this nation: We need a new Poor People’s Campaign for a Moral Revival in America. It is time to become a new and unsettling force in our complacent national life.

panther men

they weren’t scared
of no police dogs.
they didn’t bow to no pigs
and wooden batons.
no fear of fire hoses
silver bullets and steel cuffs
they were different.

those negroes looked like men.
like BLACK MEN
who knew exactly
where they came from.

like BLACK MEN
who knew exactly
where they came from
and didn’t take no shit.
from nobody.
from nobody.

old black wall street

we don’t own
the convenience stores
in the ghetto.
we don’t own
the smoke shops
nail salons
and beauty supply spots.
we own the churches
the good word
and dreams deferred.
we own the pain
poverty and crime
against each other.
we own the
nickels and dimes
that allow others
to own us.
we don’t own
a goddamn thing
here anymore.
black wall street
has now become brooklyn
harlem, u street.
merely a shell
of their old selves.
gone.
merely a shell
of their old selves.
gone.

coup d’état

there can be no peace
until every child
has a hot meal

there can be no treaties
until we sit down
and negotiate the revolution.

not one hostage
shall be released
until you hang those
policemen.

until those judges
mayors and corrupt officials
are all buried
alive.

Lenin’s State and Revolution

Saturday, August 5, 5 PM (5920 Second Avenue, Detroit)

———-

Dinner followed by reading and discussion.

Class leaders: Kayla Pauli and Jamie Smedley

Join us Saturday, August 5 for our class on State And Revolution written by V.I. Lenin just a few months before the successful worker revolution in 1917 and published in 1918. Come to a discussion on what is the capitalist state, and why socialist revolution is the only solution to police brutality, prisons and the U.S. court system of justice for the rich and enslavement for the workers and oppressed.

Lenin notes that the capitalist state “is a power which arose from society but places itself above it and alienates itself more and more from it. What does this power mainly consist of? It consists of special bodies of armed men having prisons, etc., at their command.”
