Mayday! Mayday! International Workers Day was Monday, and its history is tied to Milwaukee. Rick Kissell, a local activist and labor history expert who was a longtime associate of our last socialist mayor, and Ken Germanson of the Wisconsin Labor History Society remind us of some of our past, including Populist and Socialist electoral successes and the martyrdom for and achievement of the eight-hour day.
