Milwaukee, June 27, 2019: No Cops at Freshman Bridge

No Cops at Freshman Bridge

On Thursday June 27th at 6:30 the Milwaukee Public School Board Directors will be voting on a contract with the Milwaukee Police Department to have 6 truancy abatement and burglary suspension (TABS) officers at Freshmen Bridge (orientation).
We are urging the Milwaukee Public School Board to reject this contract, and allow our incoming freshmen to have a safe space to feel welcome in a school community that is not looking to punish them before classes start! Study after study has found that the mere presence of police has physiological and physical affects on people of color. Our young people deserve better.

Call to Action:
πŸ“§ your school board member at governance@milwaukee.k12.wi.us with “Att: [Insert your School Board Director] in the email subject
πŸ“ž the Office of Board Governance at 414-475-8284
and have them record your opposition prior to the meeting Thursday
