Milwaukee, July 14, 2019: Rally for Reproductive Access at Dontre Hamilton (Red Arrow) Park

Milwaukee Rally For Reproductive Access

Dontre Hamilton (Red Arrow) Park, 920 N Water Street, Milwaukee, 2-3 P.M.

What is Access Fest? In a city that loves festivals, a reoccurring and traveling festival has been formed. Access Fest is a connective gathering to mobilize folks who want to plug into the work ahead to protect and expand access to a spectrum of reproductive healthcare – from free, legal, and medically provided abortion on demand, to supported and safe conditions to conceive, birth and raise healthy children.

Our inaugural gathering will be Sunday, July 14th at 2pm in Red Arrow Park, to display opposition to a hate group ascending onto Wisconsin, OPERATION SAVE AMERICA (OSA). We have joined up with the Abortion Access Front to counter OSA as they invade Milwaukee JULY 13-20 and we need to rally together to let them know their messages of intolerance are not welcome in Wisconsin. Check out garbagefyrefest.com for a week of events to follow the Sunday rally.

“OPERATION SAVE AMERICA IS KNOWN AS ONE OF THE MOST INFLUENTIAL HATE GROUPS IN AMERICA. Each July, hundreds of OSA members from around the country gather in a specific city to spend a week disrupting a community with massive public parades and rallies promoting their anti-choice, anti LGBTQ, and anti- immigrant messages. Their vile imagery and chants of intolerance have inspired progressive activists from Wisconsin and around the country to gather and counter their bigotry and misogyny. Through direct actions, comedy and burlesque shows, we want to put out the Garbage Fyre with messages of love and inclusion.”

Join us as we rally against conservative attacks on abortion rights and reproductive healthcare access and show them that we are an unyielding force in Wisconsin.

Introduction to Chicago Teachers Union Delegation to Venezuela

https://radicaledcollective.wordpress.com/

This spring, the Chicago Teachers Union Executive Board and House of Delegates each unanimously passed a resolution condemning Donald Trump and U.S. intervention in Venezuela.  Resources that never seemed to find their way to our classrooms are being used to intervene in the democratic processes of other countries instead.

This blog represents the members delegation of the Chicago Teacher’s Union that are currently in Venezuela to learn from educators and activists on the ground. The rest of this week, we will be reporting on what we learn and see while we are here. We are being aided by Dozthor Zurlent (Educator) and Miguel Ángel Nuñez (Facilitator) from the Education Ministry of Venezuela.

We especially want to thank Financial Secretary, Maria Moreno, and former Recording Secretary, Michael Brunson, for drafting and bringing the resolution to the executive board. You can read and download a copy of the resolution at the link below:

Madison, July 18, 2019: WI Stands Up for Abortion Access and Stands Strong Against Hate!

WI Stands Up for Abortion Access and Stands Strong Against Hate!

11 A.M., Wisconsin State Capitol, Madison

Anti-abortion extremist hate group “Operation Save America” is spending the week of July 13-20th in Milwaukee to terrorize the independent abortion provider in town, and they are traveling to Madison on July 18th to meet with WI lawmakers about turning the state into the next Alabama. They’ll also be promoting their anti-LGBTQ+, anti-Islam, anti-immigrant garbage throughout the city.

Join WI lawmakers and community based organizations for a press conference and rally to let OSA that their bigoted agenda is NOT welcome in Wisconsin! Together, let’s lift up WI’s ACTUAL values, including abortion access, as we promote the Abortion Access Protection Act in the WI state legislature.

Come out! Bring signs! Get loud!
We’ll be on the steps at the corner of Mifflin, State and Carroll.

Confirmed speakers and participating groups include WI State Representative Lisa Subeck, Wisconsin State Representative Shelia Stubbs, Satya for Madison, Abortion Access Front, Madison NOW – National Organization for Women, Madison Abortion Defense, One Wisconsin Now, Indivisible Madison, Democratic Socialists of America – Madison and many more to come!

This event is part of Abortion Access Front’s Garbage Fyre Festival. We are a coalition of local and national activist groups, churches, and performers who have planned daily fun and joyful direct actions to counter OSA’s messages of intolerance with messages of support and love that will drown out their bigotry. Protest Democratic Party Debates

The Democratic Party presidential candidates will be coming to Detroit for a debate where many issues facing poor and working people cannot be addressed in a meaningful way while the many U.S. wars abroad and at home go unchallenged.

There will be a rally, followed by a march to the Fox Theatre where we will demand:

STOP THE WARS AT HOME AND ABROAD!

MIGRANT RIGHTS NOW!
NO TO THE CONCENTRATION CAMPS!
END MASS INCARCERATION!

SYSTEM CHANGE NOT CLIMATE CHANGE!

HEALTH CARE FOR ALL!

FUND HUMAN NEEDS NOT WAR!

REPARATIONS NOW!

WATER, HOUSING, GOOD PUBLIC SCHOOLS and a CLEAN ENVIRONMENT ARE HUMAN RIGHTS!
