On July 18 and 19, 2020, cultural organizers from the US and Canada came together with the Instituto Cubano de la Musica (ICM) in Cuba to host a special virtual tribute recognizing the distinct contributions to the world during the Covid-19 pandemic. The concert salutes Cuba’s heroic and outsized contributions to health care around the world as doctors have volunteered this year to serve in more than 26 countries. These contributions have been in the face of hostile actions and intensified US sanctions under Trump and the ongoing economic blockade. For these sacrifices and more, many around the world are calling for the 2020 Nobel Prize to be bestowed upon Cuba.
