Manitowoc, WI, August 10, 2021: Stop Hate Rally!

Manitowoc Human Rights Coalition

The Manitowoc Human Rights Coalition is calling a rally immediately before our next school board meeting to defend our school system and our library from the forces of intolerance, bigotry, racism and hate that are undermining diversity and respect for all members of our community.

Our schools and library are increasingly under attack from a well-funded and nationally organized campaign that opposes free thought, truth and diversity.

The recent resignation of our library director in the face of organized attacks on diversity programming at the library is a 5-alarm wake-up call for everyone who cares about our right to engage in truthful, intelligent and inclusive discussion in our community!

MPSD frequently moves high-interest school board meetings to larger venues to accommodate larger audiences, so the location of the rally is not final at this time. Watch this event for updates on the location.

On Friday, nearly 300 activists and tribal citizens gathered on small Stephenson Island in Wisconsin — a stone’s throw from the bridge separating it from Michigan — in a joint effort to protect the river that encircles it….
