Public schools are facing staff shortages due to increasing demands and low pay, leaving scholars without the support they need to achieve academic success.
Together, in an effort to support our students we are asking the ๐ ๐ ๐ฆ๐ ๐๐ผ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฑ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐๐ฑ๐๐ฐ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป, ๐๐ฟ. ๐๐ฒ๐ป๐ธ๐ถ๐ป๐, ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ฑ๐ถ๐๐๐ฟ๐ถ๐ฐ๐ ๐น๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐ต๐ถ๐ฝ ๐๐ผ:
– Provide a $5 increase to all Educational Assistant and Security Assistant salary schedules
– Budget for the 4.7% COLA in the base wage increase
– Include annual salaries with step increases on teacher contracts
– Increase substitute pay rates to keep pace with the teachers salary schedule
MMSD cannot fall behind in recruiting and retaining high quality staff and expect to address the needs of our scholars. Failing to make this commitment during a staffing crisis like we’re experiencing is harmful to the well-being of everyone who is proud to be part of the MMSD community.
