Shakespeare doth organize: IATSE Local 22 Members Organize at Theatre Company

Production staff at the Shakespeare Theatre Company have voted overwhelmingly (23-6) to join IATSE Local 22, after filing for an election in May. Issues included low wages compared to other regional theaters and unfair treatment during the COVID-19 pandemic. “I have been fighting for this,” deck chief Andrew Wilkinson told DCist, “since I started three years ago.” “Welcome, new members!” tweeted Local 22 yesterday.
